Philippe Cherabier – Personal page

Welcome to my personal page! My name is Philippe, and I’m an engineer in the Corps des ponts, des eaux et des forêts working for the French ministry of ecology as climate negotiator. I finished a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution at the Institut de Biologie de l’École Normale Supérieure (IBENS). You will find my full CV here.

In my doctoral work I focused on microbial adaptation to climate change in the ocean, with a particular focus on heterotrophic bacteria and viruses. I did so by developing and analysing mathematical models of ecosystem, applying evolutionary game theory and adaptive dynamics to infer potential changes in ecosystem-wide behavior. If you’d like to know more, check out my blog A Spoonful of Ocean, where I try to explain as simply as possible my work, or my list of publications and conference presentations.

You may also be interested by my cinema blog (in French!), Cinephil, where I share thoughts, analyses and critiques of popular films.

Should you wish to discuss climate negotiation, ecology, cinema, or all of these combined, don’t hesitate to contact me!
